According to regulation (EC) n° 1907/2006 appendix XVII (Cadmium) EXTRACT
(1) By its resolution of 25 January 1988 concerning a Community action programme, the Council called on the Commission to combat environmental pollution by cadmium.
(2) Entry 23 of the table in Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 mentions the restrictions applicable to the use and placing on the market of cadmium in mixtures and articles.
(3) Cadmium and cadmium oxide are classified as category 1B carcinogens and hazardous to aquatic organisms, acute toxicity category 1 and chronic toxicity category 1.
Paragraph 8.
Cannot be used in filler metals for brazing in concentrations greater than or equal to 0.01% by weight. Brazing filler metals cannot be placed on the market if their cadmium concentration (expressed in Cd metal) is greater than or equal to 0.01% by weight.
For the purposes of this paragraph, "hard soldering" means a joining process performed using alloys at temperatures above 450°C
Paragraph 9. By way of derogation, for safety reasons, paragraph 8 is not applicable to brazing filler metals used in defense and aerospace applications
